What I’m sharing with you today is something I shared with the women of my church about what we are walking in, way back in 2014! I had pretty much forgotten about it until the Lord reminded me of it recently. And he promped me to share it with you, just like He wanted me to share it with them then.
I had a dream where someone asked me “What is written on your shoes?” I was confused, thinking they meant to ask what brand my shoes were. They explained, saying, “What are you going to walk in today? What are you going to live out? Choose one word for each shoe.” In the dream I wrote love and faith on my shoes.
There are so many things we can choose to live out each day. We can walk in blessings or curses. In the spirit or the flesh. We can change what we’ve written on our shoes every day, or hold on to two things for a season.
If we are not intentional with what we are walking in, we tend to fall into negative things. Just like if we do not intentionally watch where we are physically walking we might get our shoes muddy or get gum stuck to them.
Walking in the Bible
Let’s look at some scriptures the Bible gives us about walking in different ways.
Deuteronomy 8:6 NKJV tells us to, “Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and fear Him.”
In 3 John 1:4 NKJV it says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
Ephesians 5:2 NKJV says, “And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”
These are all examples of things God wants us to walk in. The Bible also tells us what we should not be living out in our lives.
Psalm 1:1 NKJV teaches us, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;“
Proverbs 4:14 NKJV says, “Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil.”
