While I was on my break from blogging and some social media, I was nominated for a sunshine blogger award! I was so bummed when I realized that I missed it way back in December! So now, nearly 3 months later, I am finally getting to my response!
I was nominated by fellow blogger, and published author, Stephen De La Vega! He is a gifted writer with a heart for the Lord and for sharing God’s truth with the world. To learn more about Stephen and read some of his posts, visit stephendelavega.com. Thank you, Stephen, for nominating me for this award!

My Answers to Stephen’s Questions
If you were given a totally free day where the minutes were never to be counted and time actually wouldn’t elapse, what would you do?
Since time wouldn’t elapse, it could be more than a “day” right? I would take my family on a vacation, like we have been talking about for a couple of years. We would be going to Florida to wade in the ocean, see manatees and dolphins, and enjoy the sunshine!
Which of your own blog posts is your favorite and why? Please provide the link.
My favorite of my own blog posts so far has to be 7 Practical Tips to get Your Marriage Back on Track. It was one born of my personal marriage experiences and struggles thus far, and the wisdom I gained through those struggles. I had that particular post on my heart before I even started my blog, and it’s very special to me.
With whom, what, or where did you shoot your strangest selfie?
It’s probably not really that strange, just a little silly, but I took this selfie with my boys while waiting for the fireworks to start during the “Old Fashioned Days” (almost like a county fair or summer celebration) a couple years ago. This is one of like 20 different silly pictures we took!
What was your biggest hurdle to overcome before you began writing?
The biggest hurdle I had to overcome was myself. I was worried that I didn’t have anything of value to say. That nobody was going to read my work. I worried that all the technical stuff would be more than I could ever understand. But, God. Once I came to the understanding that if God gives me something to write, then it is valuable, and He will get it in front of whoever needed it, I was able to let go of my insecurities. Some encouragement from my husband and his aunt once I spoke the idea of blogging out loud helped too.
What celebrity do you famously impersonate?
I will occasionally do Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “I’ll be back” when I leave, or say lines from other movies. Especially animated movies.
What characteristic of God is most special to you?
I especially appreciate God’s omnipresence. He is everywhere at all times. That means I don’t have to make an appointment, get a babysitter, and drive across town to talk to Him. I don’t have to wait for Sunday morning services to worship Him. He hears me right where I am, and He is always with me.
What was your favorite extra-curricular activity during your K-12 days?
In elementary school I used to play softball for the YMCA teams in my town. I stopped in middle school, but I wish I had stuck with it. I was actually pretty good at short stop!
Assuming you attend a local church, what do you like most about it?
I love the preaching at the church I attend. The music is great, the way everyone supports each other like a big family is great, but the preaching is the best IMO. Our church’s motto is “speaking the truth in love”, and that is exactly what my Pastor does every week.
Besides writing, and your “day job” (if it’s not writing), what is your favorite regular activity?
I enjoy several regular activities, including baking, reading, and riding my bike when the weather is nice. I’m really missing my bike right now and I can’t wait for spring!
With what Christian notable outside of your personal circles would you most like to have lunch?
I would love to have lunch with Francis Chan, and his wife Lisa. I’ve seen several of his sermons on Youtube, and a couple of his books are on my must read list!
What is your favorite reality or lifestyle TV show?
I don’t watch much TV… I like shows like Chopped, Tanked, and Myth Busters. Are they still on the air?
