Everyone who eats brownies likes them a certain way. Some like them fluffy and cake-like. Some like them crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. Most often I find that people want their brownies fudgey and almost gooey in the center, and a Twitter poll I conducted recently confirmed it. I know that’s my favorite kind! If you are someone who agrees with me about what makes the ideal brownie, these Amazing Fudgey Brownies will be your new favorite recipe!
When I was in elementary school, I was a girl scout for several years. Along with the usual cookie sale fund raiser, one year the entire organization made a cook book! The book was completely made of recipe submissions from scouts and their families. That book is where I found this recipe. I tweaked it slightly for my tastes, and now I’ve been using it for years! It has always turned out perfectly. Thank you Cathy from Troop #110! I have tried other recipes, some found on Pinterest, some boxed mixes, and none of them compare to this recipe. It’s the one I always come back to, and the recipe I have been asked to share many times. So, I’ve decided to share it with you today! I hope you all enjoy them as much as I have over the years!
Amazing Fudgey Brownies
- 3/4 Cup melted butter
- 1 Cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 Cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 eggs, slightly beaten
- 3/4 Cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/2 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Preheat your oven to 350*
Prepare an 8x8 baking pan by lightly spraying with olive oil cooking spray.
In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set it aside.
In another medium mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugars and vanilla. Then beat in the eggs.
Next, blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, being careful not to over beat.
Pour into baking pan and bake for 40 minutes, or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
Cool completely before cutting into 12 or 16 pieces.
As with most recipes I post, there are easy ways to tweak and personalize it. You can easily double the recipe to make a 9×13 size pan of Amazing Fudgey Brownies. I have chopped up Reese’s cups to mix into the batter and sprinkle over the top. The same could be done with Oreo cookies, other candy bars, or even M&M’s. You could also make brownie bites by pouring the batter into muffin cups. Just remember to adjust the baking time accordingly!
