Would you like to learn more about the woman behind the blog? I have shared a little about myself on my front page, and in my posts about confidence and my testimony. Since you’re here, though, it looks like you’re curious to learn more about me! So here’s the scoop;
I was born and raised in a small Michigan town. It’s a town where there’s only 1 middle school and 1 high school in the public school system, and 1 building for all of the Christian school students. Where you can easily walk from the high school to go down town for lunch and a movie on a 1/2 day of school. It’s a town where Walmart is the biggest shopping center, and the limited choices for weekend activities include canoeing down the river, walking through town to do some window shopping, and going bowling.
After I got married we moved to my husband’s hometown. It’s quite bit bigger. We have a mall, trampoline park, and a few museums here that add to the variety of things to do.
I like to keep a garden in the summer time. I always grow tomatoes and cucumbers, but I have never been able to grow peppers or pumpkins. Working in the dirt and nurturing the plants helps me to feel accomplished and more in touch with God’s creation.
Music is one of my passions. I rarely feel closer to the Lord than when I’m singing my heart out to him with worship music. That’s part of why I joined the worship team at my church, even though I have some stage fright. Music is also something I use to influence my mood and keep me meditating on the right things. Some of my favorite bands and artists include Skillet, 7eventh Time Down, Lauren Daigle, Hawk Nelson, Citizen Way, Chris Tomlin, Meredith Andrews, Tenth Avenue North and Ashes Remain.
I really enjoy cooking and baking. I have a little bit of a sweet tooth, so desserts are my favorite thing to make. Cheesecake, brownies, cookies, ice cream, you name it. Blogging about food has been somewhat of a challenge, because I rarely measure while I’m cooking. I typically eyeball the amount of seasonings and things I use!
I have always enjoyed writing. As a kid I was encouraged by a few of my teachers in my writing, and was even selected to go to some special “Young Authors” events. In college I especially enjoyed writing papers and essays. I actually kind of miss it sometimes! My husband says I’m a dork for that lol. I really enjoy reading too. Both fiction and non-fiction books. Some of my favorites are Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman, all The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and Marina by Susan K Downs and Susan May Warren. I am hoping to keep adding to this list of favorites!
I have recently taken up teaching myself to sew. Unfortunately I don’t have as much time to work on it as I’d like, but I have enjoyed it so far. The sewing itself comes easily to me, but learning the machine and all it’s quirks has been a little more challenging.
Just for fun, here’s 5 more random facts about me!

Well, there you have it. A little more about me for those of you who wanted to know. I am hoping that as we interact more in my comments and on social media, I can get to know you better too!
